Stick to Golf in Schools
Stick to Golf makes it possible for one physical education teacher to facilitate an effective golf unit for a classroom of students.
In 1997, Joe Sindelar and Kris Reuland collaborated to design a golf program for their local schools. The golf knowledge of Joe Sindelar and the education background of Kris Reuland led to the development of Stick to Golf. Because of the positive feedback, Sindelar and Reuland decided create a business so that Stick to Golf could be made available to schools everywhere. Other schools in the United States and Canada have started their own Stick to Golf programs.
Following is the story of what happened in their region in the central Southern Tier of New York State:
Kids’ Golf and One Community’s Story of Success
Corning Classic Charities encompasses a geographic region from Wellsville, NY on the west to Waverly, NY on the east, and from Ithaca, NY on the north and south to Wellsboro, PA. Corning Classic Charities recognizes that junior golf improves the quality of life by providing golf and life skills, and academic instruction delivered in the context of golf. The modest start of the junior golf program which began in two schools led to the creation of the Stick to Golf® Scholastic Learning Systems and at the same time to extensive community programming:
